Most Garage Tear-Downs Are a One-Day Job
A standard 2-car frame garage in Chicago comes down in 4–6 hours. We disconnect any service drops with the utility, drop the structure, separate metal and wood for recycling, load out, and sweep. Slab removal adds half a day if you want the concrete out too.
Permits and Utility Disconnects
Detached garage demolition in Chicago requires a permit. We handle the application, the survey requirement, and coordination with ComEd, Peoples Gas, and the City for any active service drops. You get one number to call and one quote that covers all of it.
What We Leave Behind
By default: clean dirt where the garage stood, slab intact, alley swept, no nails, no debris. Optional add-ons: slab break-out and removal, fence section repair, gravel or topsoil fill, rough grade for your new build's footprint.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be home?
No. As long as we have access and the permit is posted, we can complete the job and send photos when it's done.
Can you remove the concrete slab too?
Yes. Slab removal is a common add-on and we'll quote it as a line item so you can decide.
What about asbestos siding on old garages?
Older Chicago garages sometimes have transite or asbestos-containing siding. We test if uncertain and coordinate licensed abatement before demo.
